Privacy Policy

The operator of AmbientPal (the "Operator", "we") establishes this Privacy Policy (this "Policy") regarding the handling of users' personal information in the application "AmbientPal" (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: identifiers, email address, and display name obtained through Google / Apple sign-in
• Safety Pal information: the name, email address, and optional phone number of contacts registered by the user
• Reaction (check-in) information: daily responses, response timestamps, and scores
• Notification token and time zone: the FCM token and device time zone required to deliver push notifications and manage notification times
• Away Mode settings: on/off status and start/end dates
• Safety alert status: records of Safety Pal notifications sent when you don't respond, and their resolution
• Subscription information: subscription status via the App Store / RevenueCat (we never receive payment details such as credit card numbers)

The App does not collect location data (GPS, etc.). We also do not collect information for advertising or behavioral analytics purposes.

2. Purposes of Use

• Providing the safety check-in feature (recording reactions and escalating when there is no response)
• Sending notifications to Safety Pals, including safety alerts, invitations, and thank-you emails
• Providing and managing subscriptions
• Improving the quality of the App and addressing defects

3. Third Parties and External Services

We operate the App using the following external services. The handling of information by each service is governed by that provider's privacy policy.

• Google Firebase (authentication, database, notifications, and server processing; data is stored primarily on servers in the Tokyo region)
• Brevo (email delivery to Safety Pals)
• RevenueCat / Apple (providing and managing subscriptions)

Emails sent to Safety Pals include the user's display name, the fact that the user did not respond and when, and any personal message the user added when sending the invitation. The content of the user's reaction answers is never sent to Safety Pals.

Except as required by law, we do not provide personal information to any third party other than those listed above.

4. Retention Period

We retain the collected information for as long as the user's account remains active. When a user deletes their account from within the App, we promptly delete the related data, including account information, reaction history, and Safety Pal information (this also revokes the Apple sign-in link). Safety Pal invitation links expire 7 days after they are issued.

5. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Through the use of the external services above, information may be stored and processed on servers located outside your country.

6. Your Rights and Data Deletion

Users can delete their account and related data from within the App. For other requests, such as disclosure, correction, or suspension of use of your personal data, please contact us via the channel in Section 7. After verifying your identity, we will respond within a reasonable scope in accordance with applicable law.
