Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (these "Terms") set forth the conditions for using the application "AmbientPal" (the "App") provided by the operator of AmbientPal (the "Operator", "we"). By using the App, you agree to these Terms.

Article 1 (Scope)

These Terms apply to all relationships between the Operator and users regarding the use of the App.

Article 2 (Account Registration)

Using the App requires signing in with a Google or Apple account. Users are responsible for managing their own accounts.

Article 3 (Description of the App)

The App is a service intended to assist with safety confirmation: based on your responses to daily reactions (check-ins), it notifies the contacts you have registered ("Safety Pals") when you do not respond.

Article 4 (Registering Safety Pals)

When registering a third party's name and contact information as a Safety Pal, you must obtain the necessary consent from that person. The handling of such information is governed by the Privacy Policy.

Article 5 (Subscription and Fees)

Using the App requires a subscription. First-time subscribers can use a 30-day free trial.

• After the free trial and after each billing period, the subscription renews automatically. Pricing is as displayed in the App Store.
• To cancel, use your Apple account's subscription settings at least 24 hours before the current period renews. No prorated refunds are provided for mid-period cancellations.
• Deleting your App account does not automatically cancel your subscription. You must cancel separately from your Apple account's subscription settings.

Article 6 (Prohibited Conduct)

When using the App, you must not engage in any of the following:

• Acts that violate laws or public order and morals
• Registering false information or impersonating a third party
• Registering a third party as a Safety Pal without their consent
• Unauthorized access to the App or related systems, reverse engineering, or other analysis
• Acts that interfere with the operation of the App
• Acts that infringe the rights of other users, third parties, or the Operator
• Any other acts the Operator deems inappropriate

Article 7 (Disclaimer)

The App assists with safety confirmation; it does not guarantee the delivery of notifications, rescue or emergency response, or your safety itself. Notifications may be delayed or fail to arrive depending on network conditions, devices, operating systems, or the status of third-party services.

Except in cases of the Operator's willful misconduct or gross negligence, the Operator is not liable for damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App. Where the Operator is liable, the amount of compensation is capped at one month's worth of the most recent usage fees (except in cases of the Operator's willful misconduct or gross negligence).

Article 8 (Changes, Suspension, and Termination of the Service)

The Operator may change the content of the App, or suspend or terminate its provision, without prior notice to users.

Article 9 (Changes to These Terms)

The Operator may amend these Terms when it deems necessary. The amended Terms take effect when posted in the App or on this website.

Article 10 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising between the Operator and a user in connection with the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the Operator's place of residence as the court of first instance.
